Rules for Members
Membership in the SCs is available only for the most authoritative national experts in the domain of a particular SC upon the recommendation of National Committees. The candidates (not more than one representative in a SC from the country according to the agreed quota) are approved by the Technical Committee of CIGRE at the Session for the two-year term. Membership prolongation is permitted for the next two-year term.
Requirements for candidates:
- higher education in electrical engineering;
- considerable working experience in the domain of the SC activity;
- scientific & professional reputation;
- scientific publications in the domain of the SC activity;
- mandatory fluent English, desirable fluent French;
- experience of participation in international events, projects, researches etc;
- CIGRE membership.
Membership categories:
- Regular Member;
- Observer (non-voting member).
Nominal membership in the SCs is strictly forbidden as it may cause downgrading of the membership category and pre-term appointment of another member as per the agreement of the SC Chairman and National Committee.
According to the SC rules and regulations the representatives of each country in the SCs are responsible for the creation of a National Study Committee which serves as an equivalent of a particular CIGRE SC in their country.
