NGN Steering Committee Meeting

The NGN Steering Committee (SC) sets the direction of the NGN and is formed of the NGN Team and any interested NGN members. The next SC meeting will be held at Parsons Brinckerhoff, Manchester on 15^th April, 1000-1600. If you are an NGN member and would like to attend, please confirm this by an email to Angela Rotheram indicating if you would like a car parking space.

Cyber-Physical System Security of the Power Grid

The Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, together with ETH Zürich and the University College Dublin is organizing a course entitled " Cyber-Physical System Security of the Power Grid ", to be held in Stockholm, Sweden, from Tuesday April 9 to Thursday April 11, 2013. The course will cover:

• Cyber-Physical System Risk Assessment
• Cyber Security of SCADA Systems
• Cyber Security for Wide Area Operation and Control

Registration has now opened for CIRED 2013! You will be able to book your place at Europe’s leading electricity distribution conference at http://www.cired2013.org

Over 1500 abstracts were received in response to the Call for Papers – the most ever submitted to a CIRED conference. Over 850 abstracts have been sel ected for the conference programme.

Cigré UK Executive Meeting Dates

The dates for the executive meetings and AGM have been agreed as follows:

• 11th June 2013 - Executive Meeting
• 6th November 2013 - Executive Meeting followed by AGM
• 6th November 2013 - Technical Committee Meeting (organised by Bjarne Andersen)

Cigré UK Conference - Postponement

Due to a clash with an IEEE PES event taking place at the same time the conference has been postponed until later in the year. A new date will be announced when it has been confirmed.

 IMechE Energy Storage for Power Networks Conference

This is the third annual seminar organised and run by the Electricity Storage Network and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. It will address the latest developments in national and European policy towards electricity storage, and provide an update on the current status of energy storage technologies and projects.

Free student places:
The Energy Storage Research Network (ESRN) funded by EPSRC can offer support to enable up to 25 students to attend the event with free registration. Priority will be given to students enrolled at UK universities. Please contact jill@electricitystorage.co.uk if you wish to apply for ESRN support. Successful applicants will be notified.
