Andrey Murov summarized on 2017 results at the meeting with heads of organizations - leading research and technology partners of Russian National Committee of CIGRE
Russia has ranked first in Europe and fifth globally in terms of CIGRE national committee membership. In 2017, CIGRE Russia (Russian National Committee of CIGRE) held successful scientific and technical conferences, colloquiums and round tables. A strategic objective is to set up a regional association of the Council as part of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
The working meeting was attended by managers of the key enterprises that form part of CIGRE Russia: B. Ayuev, Executive Board Chairman of SO UPS, JSC, N. Rogalev, Rector of National Research University MPEI, Yu. Sharov, manager of Engineering Unit of Inter RAO, PJSC, among others, as well as representatives of the partners Vnesheconombank and Kazakhstan’s Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) that joined the Council this year.
In 2017, CIGRE Russia has reinforced its role as the center of industrial expertise. A partnership agreement was struck with VEB for providing the Bank with insight expertise for selection of investment projects in the power industry.
Among the key events that took place were a colloquium for informational systems and telecommunications hosted by Russia and attended by the CIGRE Secretary General Philippe Adam, Digital Substation International Conference, held jointly with the National Committee of the Netherlands. Also it is noteworthy to mention a concluding conference that followed up the 46th Council Session in Paris, Moscow International Education Fair featuring a round table “Jobs of the Future Power Industry”, and dozens of other internal scientific events, including those for youth.
According to A. Murov, Chairman of CIGRE Russia and manager of FGC UES, the main strategic priority is to set up a supranational regional association with EAEU partners of Russia within the CIGRE framework. The 2018 priorities are preparations for Russia’s participation in the 47th session of CIGRE, arrangement of domestic events by CIGRE Russia scientific subcommittees, broader participation in international working groups.

The International Council on Large Electric Systems CIGRE was established in 1921. Its purpose is to build technical expertise and facilitate inter-state data exchange pertaining to power generation and transmission. In 2015, A. Murov, Chairman of FGC UES Management Board, was elected Head of CIGRE Russia.
