CIGRE Secretary General meets with young russian scientists
On September 20, 2017, CIGRE Secretary General Philippe Adam met in Moscow with the representatives of the Youth Division of the CIGRE Russian National Committee, students, postgraduates and young professors of specialized higher education institutions.
The meeting was part of the D2 CIGRE International Colloquium on Information Systems and Telecommunications supported by FGC UES, PJSC.
The event addressed such issues as promising trends in the research activities of CIGRE, interaction among young professionals and Subcommittees as well as current requirements for the competencies of power engineers in the era of the digital economy.
During the meeting, young scientists had the opportunity to ask questions to the representative of the International Council on Large Electric Systems about the existing priorities, the impact of cutting-edge information technologies on the industry, and the role of CIGRE in fostering higher education.
Participants emphasized the need to organize international engineering case championships among young scientists under the aegis of CIGRE.
When speaking at the meeting, Philippe Adam highlighted the importance of broadening the youth segment, exchanging experiences, strengthening contacts between the National Committee’s representatives and Russia’s higher education institutions.
The International Council on Large Electric Systems, shortly CIGRE, was established in 1921. Currently, the organization has representative offices in 90 countries worldwide, including Russia. The purpose of CIGRE is to enhance technical knowledge and facilitate international information exchange in power generation and transmission. In 2015, FGC UES CEO Andrey Murov was elected Chairman of the CIGRE Russian National Committee.
